i will try simply to listen
to sounds
polluting the air
at 6 in the morning
i feel like the skeleton chair
strings across the room
the hand that makes them tuned
leaves me a skeleton chair
it only feels like what its not
like waking up before any alarms go off
and that coffee maker breathes
and when i leave
it will never breathe again
under the same name
just outside the door
or underneath the window
i just kept staring at the floor
but i could've turned around
i go out
only to come back
to hear rain dripping through the cracks
a note played on
an old busted
chord organ
in the other room -
or not
i can't tell
just try to leave a mark
on a wall
in the dark
to match the resonance of a hollowed out turtle shell
and i didn't turn around
